Gratitude — The Most Important Skill to Master
In a recent video of the JT Show, Justin Thorstad talks about the most important skill he has used over the course of his seven-year transformational journey and the one thing that he says has constantly supported him in manifesting and creating beautiful results in his life. That skill is gratitude.
And just like any skill, it has to be practiced to master. He admits it does take effort to focus on gratitude rather than focusing on the negatives in the world. But he encourages people to work on this effort rather than focusing on other feelings such as fear, anger, resentment or doubt.
Upon waking, Justin says, it’s the best time to begin an attitude of gratitude. Instead of hitting snooze the same number of times as yesterday, grabbing the phone and scrolling through social media, he invites people to create a state of thanks. To be grateful for even the smallest thing. Just even the basic things people take for granted, such as waking up and the fact that they are here, alive, today. Then let it grow from there.
He also suggests people write out four or five things they are grateful for that currently exist in their reality, then add four or five more things that don’t exist yet but write them out as if they do. He adds that to be effective and powerful with gratitude, this list of things should be the same every single day until they are truly achieved.
“The reason this is powerful is because you slowly yet consistently start to shift the self-image of how you view yourself regarding your thoughts and feelings of what your self-image says that you are worthy of, deserving or enough to receive,” he says, adding, “As you start shifting your self-image, you’ll notice you start receiving that what you said you were grateful for.”
He lists the following examples for gratitude list (making sure to always list self as number one):
1.) I am so happy and grateful for my amazing self! I love me completely just the way I am with no improvement required.
2.) I am so happy and grateful for my babies! I love them completely with all my heart. Thank you for their health and safety.
3.) I am so happy and grateful for my amazing friends! (I list my tribe each by name) Thank you all so much for your love and support. I appreciate you!
4.) I am so happy and grateful for filling myself with joy, love, abundance, peace, validation and significance. Thank you!
Items that do not currently exist…
1.) I am so happy and grateful that I earn a minimum net monthly income of $XXX,XXX. Thank you!
2.) I am so happy and grateful that I consistently close a minimum of XX deals on a monthly basis. Thank you!
3.) I am so happy and grateful for my health and healing! Thank you for this incredible and vibrant body!
4.) I am so happy and grateful for my new job! I find meaning and purpose in my role. Thank you!
He admits this takes time, patience and persistence. And more so than anything, it takes an attitude of belief and conviction that those items written on the gratitude list are in fact already here and have been received. He also reminds people that in order to experience a mindset shift or transformation, they have to put themselves first and love themselves enough to become the best versions of themselves.
