Level Up in Life
Libertas Real Estate Founder Justin Thorstad often uses his own life experiences as inspiration for his transformation coaching videos and workshop content. Recently, he tackled the topic of leveling up. He references his own experience of wanting to achieve the “next level of me” — something he wants to do and experience — and he explains what it takes to get there.
When “leveling up” in life, where there is something he wants to do, achieve or experience, he realized that there was a gap between where he was in life and where he wanted to be. And in that gap, old negative belief systems (bundles of stories as he calls them), started kicking back in.
“There have been some interesting things happening to me in order to ascend and transcend,” he says, adding he noticed negative parts of his self-image that he thought were in the past and that he had transcended creeping back. “I realized that as I was looking to level up, a new level of these old belief systems that I hadn’t practiced overcoming in quite some time because I thought they were gone were back.”
Instead of resisting this, Justin decided to take a look at how he had rewritten his self-image in the past to get where he is today. “I asked myself, ‘what new story did I impress upon my mind until it took root in my subconscious that supported me in the transcending,’” he says. “Because what worked then can surely work now.”
He also came to the realization that some of that old programming and mental conditioning may never fully go away. And as people reach for something higher, they may begin to experience a new level of that “old stuff.” But he suggests that the deeper one is willing to go in their practice of exploration and discovery of the past, to bring it out and let go of that old conditioning, the higher they will be able to transcend to achieve their goals and desires.
But what is missing in the gap to help support this? Justin says it’s the practice. The daily effort (not work, not hustle and grind that can lead to burnout) of gratitude, meditation, actions, conversations and prioritization is the key to going from where one is at in life to the next level.
In that is also perception of self. “You have to practice changing your self-image and rewriting your story to get to that new level,” he says. “Your mental mode of reality will fit the belief systems you have about yourself so the only separation between you now and the next level of you is how you think and feel about yourself.”
When “leveling up” in life, Justin suggests fine tuning that daily practice of gratitude, meditation, actions and more to truly transcend to the next level.
